Elos is the official friendship pairing between E.J. Caswell and Carlos Rodriguez. They are portrayed by Matt Cornett and Frankie A Rodriguez.
History[]
E.J. Caswell and Carlos Rodriguez first met before the events of Season 1. In The Auditions, E.J. auditions for the role of Troy Bolton, while Miss Jenn and Carlos watch. Then Carlos comments on his attractiveness to Miss Jenn, muttering that he probably doesn't know he exists. They grow friendlier and are present at table readings and practices. In Homecoming, When Seb doesn't turn up for the homecoming dance, E.J. watches Carlos dance and admits he feels bad for the guy to his cousin Ashlyn, since he had seemingly been stood up. In What Team?, when Miss Jenn is subject to leave East High, E.J. is initially annoyed at Carlos for hiding the truth about Miss Jenn, but eventually, they all come together to stage a performance in front of the board. In Thanksgiving, the Drama Club has a Thanksgiving Party at Ashlyn's house Carlos brings High School Musical the Choosical a board game he made. E.J. enjoys playing Carlos's game High School Musical the Choosical and they both like the show Glee. In The Tech Rehearsal, after the school theatre burns down, E.J. helps with moving the essentials to the El Rey Theater. One of which is a red box. Carlos reveals this has all the auditions notes for the musical and takes it from him. Later, E.J steals the box and finds out he lacks an emotional connection to Troy. In a tech rehearsal, E.J. performs the part of Troy, while Carlos plays as Gabriella. E.J. acts emotional and teary during the scene, expressing his love to Gabriella (played by Carlos). He gently touches his neck. Carlos is weirded out, before realizing what happened. Carlos confronts him and admits that he also believes E.J. lacks being authentic sometimes. E.J. is a little annoyed and walks away. E.J. approaches him again and they talk. E.J. calls it admirable than he stood up and took charge when Miss Jenn was absent. In Opening Night, when E.J. is forced to play Troy while Carlos is forced to play Chad.
