Nini and Kourtney

Kini is the friendship pairing between Kourtney Greene and Nini Salazar-Roberts. They are portrayed by Dara Reneé and Olivia Rodrigo.

History[]

Nini and Kourtney are best friends. They cheer each other on and celebrate each other in their passions. For example, Kourtney is rooting for Nini to succeed in the play as Gabriella and is supportive of her singing and acting (see the comments Kourtney wrote on the instagram video Nini posted singing 'I Think I Kinda, You Know'). Moreover, Nini is so proud of Kourtney's talents with make-up and fashion and her intersectional feminist pursuits- Nini even bragged to her new boyfriend EJ about how awesome Kourtney is when Nini and EJ were at theater camp.

In The Wonderstudies, when Nini thinks that Gina stole her phone, Kourteny originally tries to talk Nini down from stealing something of Gina's back, but later Kourtney gets on board and steals some of Gina's belongings herself; worrying that the two will go to jail for all they've stolen.

But most importantly, Nini and Kourtney look out for one another. Kourtney is super protective over Nini because of the heartbreak Nini suffered by Ricky. While Kourtney loves the 'Nini 2.0' after camp and is excited that Nini has moved on and is dating EJ, Kourtney is still worried that Nini might get her heart broken again. Kourtney knows how hurt Nini was after her relationship with Ricky ended because she was there for Nini when she was upset, even going so far as to slide pizzas under her door after Nini locked herself in her bedroom for 48 hours.
